First of May - International Workers' Day

Most of you who have found your way here are likely familiar with the history of May Day.  I'll post some thoughts on our important holiday a bit later, but wanted to share a few rare photographs of past May Day demonstrations held here in the Flour City.

This last one gives you a better indication of where exactly this demonstration was staged.  To the left of the frame you can clearly see the Milwaukee Road Depot, with the old Post Office (extant) across the street .  Keep these images and the fighting spirit of those working people in your mind as you cruise down Washington on your bike, or while riding the bus home from work down 3rd Ave.  Have a safe and happy May Day with your friends, family, and fellow workers.
